” Photography is an art of observation. It has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them”

about

Hi! My name is Rachael and I am a full time Photographer based in the North East of England. I grew up in a town call Alnwick, surrounded by the beautiful Northumbrian countryside. I love the outdoors and nature so I always love portraits that incorporate the landscape and natural environment.

I am a BIG animal lover, especially dogs. I have a gorgeous husky who stars in a lot of my own personal photographs; he may loo like a wolf but he is a big softie and loves nothing more than a good cuddle!

From a young age I have always enjoyed taking photos of family and friends and rarely went anywhere without my small film camera. I was given my first digital camera for Christmas while I was in highschool and never looked back!

I studied Costume Design at Edinburgh College of Art which was an amazing experience, living in a beautiful city and meeting some of my closest friends. While I still love sewing and creating garments, my favourite part of the process was often photographing the final costume at the end of a project and so, after working within the costume world for a few years, I decided to return to photography and make that my main focus. I went on to study photography at Newcastle and started photographing professionally in 2015.

My favourite subject has always been people, so wedding photography seemed the natural place to start! I love capturing people when they are unaware and showing the uninhibited emotions and natural beauty  in documentary style photography; it’s not just about the image but also the memory and the story that it tells. With a focus on real emotions and connections I try to highlight the laughter, joy and love that are felt throughout your wedding day or portrait session.

” Couldn’t recommend Rachael enough, our wedding pictures are amazing, we are delighted with them. We cannot believe how many moments she was able to capture throughout the day without us even knowing. We are really struggling to pick our favourite photos for printing as there are just so many we love! She was so friendly and helpful on the day too and really put us both at ease.”

“Just had our wedding photos back and we are over the moon! So happy we picked Rachael to photograph our special day. We got married at the end of November and Rachael has done such a beautiful job of capturing the romantic, autumnal feel that we wanted. My partner and I are a little camera shy but Rachael managed to make us feel relaxed and comfortable on the day. Thank you!

” We can’t recommend Rachel enough. She blended into our day perfectly and captured all the special moments. Our sneak peek arrived the following day, with a great selection, and the full album was not long afterwards. We absolutely love our pictures and can’t thank Rachel enough. We’ve received lots of lovely complement about the style of photography too. Thank you.”
